We're currently going through all of the ideas submitted, discussion and surveys to develop a draft Masterplan which will be exhibited in 2021.

How can we improve the attractiveness of Bowral's main street? Share your ideas and help shape a streetscape plan.

Wingecarribee Shire Council is developing a streetscape master plan with detailed designs for Bong Bong Street, Corbett Plaza and cross-streets in Bowral.

The plan and designs will set specifications for the delivery of projects which will improve the attractiveness and useability of Bowral’s main commercial precinct over coming years.

The plan will include guidance for a variety of features such as seating, bins, walkways, parking, space delineation, lighting, public art, streetscaping and signage. Urban design principles will be applied to ensure that elements complement existing local characteristics as well as prepare for changes in technology.

Complete Urban has been engaged to develop the master plan – taking care to consider and appraise aesthetic, historical, cultural and physical aspects when preparing opportunities for enhancing visitor, shopper and worker experience. They’ve started looking at the physical limitations of the area and developed some draft themes to start conversations which will help them to determine a final approach for improvements.

We’d now like to hear what property owners, businesses, tenants and the community think is required to make the main street an attractive, safe and useable space.

Masterplans are visionary and intended to explore the possibilities of sites in order to develop and protect them in the most appropriate manner for each particular location. The Masterplan will indicate short, medium and long term projects, some of which are aspirational and subject to available funding, environmental impacts and community feedback.
