THIS CONSULTATION HAS NOW CONCLUDED. Council will consider submissions received prior to adopting final versions of the draft documents.
Have your say about the way we communicate with the local community and media outlets.
Like most local government authorities around Australia, rapidly evolving technology is transforming the way Wingecarribee Shire Council communicates with our community.
These changes bring both opportunities and risks for Council.
Currently on exhibition, our draft Communication Strategy shows how Council’s many forms of communication link together to achieve specific objectives. It identifies actions to improve consistency and ensure we are communicating and sharing information of highest priority to the community, while catering for the Shire’s diverse audience groups.
The overall aim of our Strategy is to manage the Wingecarribee Shire Council brand and ensure Council messages are communicated effectively, proactively and consistently.
It's now your turn to have a say. Please take a look at the draft Communications Strategy currently on exhibition until 14 July 2014.
There are a number of ways to let us know what you think or ask a question:
Complete a feedback form (recorded but not view-able by the public)
Share your thoughts publicly with others by writing in the suggestion box
Use the 'Ask a Question' tab to do just that or read the answers we have already provided

This is a suggestion to possibly attract people to the SHL area and gain some PR. The Self-Transcendence 3,100 (just less than 5000 ks) mile foot race in NY was won by an Aussie last year, attracts heaps of International interest. An 883 meter circuit around one block in Queens. Time limit is 51 days,18 hrs per day, over 2 months, July and August. There are shorter stage races. The longest (certified) foot race in the world. We could top that with an annual 5,100 ks around Cecil Hoskins Reserve or Bong Bong race course for example? Or, some other circuit? May have to improve and extend to make a suitable. venue. Alternatively, how about a long distance cross country run over a similar distance around the highlands that would attract people to set a world record? Just a thought?

There's only so much that can be done; many people just refuse to engage with anything outside their immediate interests. That doesn't stop them from complaining that they weren't told. Perhaps the council could use its own community directory to get information out through organisations that people belong to

Properly trained and informed counter staff is very important, as this is the front line of the administrative arm of council. In this regard, I feel there is room for improvement. Timely responses to telephone calls, emails etc. could also be improved. In this regard, the mayor could lift her game and maybe set an example to her fellow councillors and the administrative staff.
